3 Ways to Keep Faith a Priority in Your Life
In this week’s podcast episode, I interviewed our family friend Mary Juengel.
Mary Juengel was diagnosed with cancer at age 11. She fought courageously for two and a half years and kept her faith a priority every day. I remember watching her story, following her on Facebook, praying for her and just thinking to myself that girl knows Jesus. She is filled with the Spirit and I have always wanted to interview her.
We chat about life, faith and Jesus. To listen to the whole episode, click HERE.
Mary teaches me three daily things that help her to keep faith a priority in your life.
Worship Music
Mary’s Favorite Artist: Lauren Daigle
Sarah’s Favorite Artist: Hillsong
Sometimes when life gets hard and we don’t have the words to say, listening to worship music is the best way to help us through that hard spot. I know many times in my life I have just gotten into my car, turned on Family Life Radio and drove around.
Mary says that worship gives her hope and peace unlike anything else.
Pray
Talk to Jesus like you would talk to you’re a friend (because he is your friend!). Every time I see something beautiful or see something that reminds me of God, I just say thank you God. Literally 100 times per day.
Mary says she goes to bed praying and wakes up praying. It’s the best way to keep faith a priority.
Use a verse like a mantra
I love to use mantras as a way to stay grounded and remind ourselves of our priorities and it helps to keep perspective of a biggest picture.
Mary’s Favorite verses: Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the river, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burn and the flamed will not set you ablaze.”
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future”
Sarah’s Favorite Verses: Romans 15: 13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power for the Holy Spirit”
Psalm 23:4 “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
I am loving these simple practices to put into place. I love worship music and to use prayer like a mantra but honestly my prayer life could use some work. This week my goal is to spend more time in prayer.
It truly is the key to a beautiful life.
